For those actively job searching, what does your daily routine actually look like in terms of applications, learning, networking, and rest? I am trying to understand what a realistic and productive schedule should look like.

I spend a couple hours every morning searching LinkedIn and applying to what makes sense to do so. I also hit up Indeed and Glassdoor, but ai spend less time there because their is a lot less viable opportunity that is local to me and not tech related. Early on you may end up spending more time job searching, but at 7 months in I am pretty comfortable with knowing that I am seeing the new postings as they show up.

Aside from that maintain my gym schedule, was chauffeuring our kiddo to and from school, took on the lawn maintenance, and with that combined with typical household upkeep and preparing to sell, I stay pretty busy.

This! Good to not have whole day consumed by it, just apply in mornings 2hrs or so, then focus on other activities in your life and around the house to get you fulfillment woth any chores and so on. That way you keep sane. Make sure to get intouch with recruiters and stay in regular contact as they can help you source roles better and quicker than any jobboard can c

I wake up and make my bed every morning. I know that sounds silly but seeing my bed made makes it so that I don't lazily get back into it later and its also a nice quick thing to make me feel productive. And then I make breakfast and get on the computer. Look through LinkedIn, also at what AI has picked up for me and at my list of target companies. And then I try to network. I also am working on doing my own freelancing gigs so then the later half of the day I spend working on that. Somewhere in between I try to squeeze in lunch. And then by 6 or so log off to do it all again the next day.

It would be helpful to break these out by those who are still employed and looking vs unemployed. The routines will vary.

I’ve mentally checked out at work because I’m determined to get out in the next couple of months. But even doing the bare minimum requires 5+ hours of my day. I spend the remaining time doing interviews, or networking reach outs. I try to WFH during weeks when I have multiple interviews scheduled.

Go to the gym, have dinner, then spend a couple more hours before bed doing interview prep.

I do not have a routine anymore. I did in the past but I did succeed at getting a job. for a long while now, I feel like a fish in a bowl and not sure what is next. I am a disable veterans with MS degrees from great universities and experience but I feel depressed about my situation.

I meant to say I did in the past but I did not succeed at getting a job.

I read LinkedIn for trends and share things I think my audience would like (I try to curate tech news and insightful content) If I find something interesting enough I may build out something on my GitHub. I built out a personal website that features my best work. Both LinkedIn content and my website serve as a footprint for search traffic. My best interviews have been from recruiters finding me. Next best has been from personal referrals. Personal referrals are better quality but less volume. Cold applications have been a black hole of despair with instant rejections or ghosting. I find for interviews I need time before and after to get my head clear.

How does contract to hire work? If I’m offered $37/hr on w2 for 3 months and then possibly a permanent position, how much can I expect to get annually as a full time company employee as a BI data analyst II? I have a M.S. and certificates in DA but this will be my first job as DA.
I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.
