For those in a successful relationship / marriage while working full time in our field, what advice do you have to create that kind of dynamic? Single and spend all my time at work and wondering how that would be possible

I think it’s very important to learn how to set boundaries with work so you can enjoy a life outside of the office. It typically requires moving agencies to be able to smoothly regain that balance because once you let an agency treat you like a work horse, they will expect that level of output all the time. I worked my butt off at the beginning of my career saying yes to everything, only to realize I can get better results with less stress by being more selective with my time and effort. I value the time I get to spend with my husband, and no ad is more important than that.

Make it a priority. It really is that simple. I love what I do, but I refuse to let it consume my entire life. You have to be intentional about carving out time for the people who matter.

It comes down to deciding what's important and then setting and enforcing boundaries. If you have to spend some non-office time working, and it's something that does no damage to your personal life, that's fine. You just need to be aware that what you think you're doing may not appear that way to a significant other, or especially to children. Good to consider their perspective in regards to whether you're being neglectful while being too focused on work.

Hi Everyone,

At the moment I'm a procurement consultant in London, but want to make a move towards supply chain consulting. My preference would go out to a supply chain consulting role which is more analytically challenging. Do you have any advice on how to make the transition (e.g. firms which would help me transition or courses to upskill myself before applying)?

I applied for a Director Learning and Development (L&D) role at McKinsey about a month ago via a referral. About a week ago, my McKinsey employee (who referred me) received an automated email saying that I had moved to the pre-screening process of the recruitment process and that I'll hear from the recruiter shortly.

It's more than a week now and I haven't heard back. Can anyone shed light on the process -- what to expect, timelines, what is the interview process like, etc.

Thanks!

I’m looking to transition from an academic medical center to pharma or a biotech. I have about 8 years of clinical research experience overall — 7 years combined as a CRC (CRC I, CRC II, and senior CRC) and 1 year as a PM. I’m also recently ACRP-CP certified.

I’ve worked with many different industry-sponsors and CROs throughout the years, but many jobs I am applying to require experience at a biotech/CRO/pharma company. Would really appreciate any advice or referrals. Thanks in advance!
