I made 30k coming out of undergrad as a lab researcher. Got a masters and was making 75k by 25. Got an MBA at 28 and was making 200k in consulting. Stayed until 35 and left making 400k. Now making 500ish TC at 35.

Joined McKinsey as an Associate when I was 29/30 (post MBA), where comp was around 130K I think?
In the 10 years since, I made EM, AP, Partner at McKinsey and even left.
I am now early 40s making over 1m cash annually and long term compensation in the 8 digits. So yeah, would say I have been lucky with a pretty steep increase during my 30s.
Are you in an investing or operating role within pe?
When I was 30, I hit 100k. When I was 40 I hit 200k. The growth curved upwards as I got older, and the jumps at the end were bigger that at the start
These threads are just mental masturbation. We all have different journeys

Started as a staff consultant at 60k @26- started late in my career , 35 now with total comp at 420k in industry, hoping to exit this year into tech with total comp ~550k
Wow this is so inspirational! I have data and analytics background. Would love to connect to get some advice. Can I DM you? Its not letting me directly DM you.
I love this thread just for the long term view of how growth works and how not to get caught up !!
At 29 I finally hit 100k and felt behind. 2 years later at 31 I’m exiting for ~180TC. Things change QUICK
What role @M2?

Started my 30s at ~$95k, now at 39 I'm at ~$500k.
Salary growth was not at all linear and involved two job hops in the decade, along with some side hustle income in the last year or so.
Did you stay in consulting or what were the jumps?
Started at 55k when I was 23, hit 100k when I was 30 and now at 37 make ~350k.... I would say 30s are prime career years for most
What back office functions make that type of comp?
In this decade, my salary has jumped +$175k base. Currently 39 and made a single change in companies.
When I was 30 I was making $85k total comp. Now I’m 35 and making $200k TC. Honestly I’m looking to get out of consulting and will likely take a slight pay cut, but it’s worth it for WLB.
30-110k
36- 185k (210k TC)
I was making ~€100K when I turned 30 and I am at €350K now. Germany
Junior manager at a tier 2 with 30, partner at a big 4 now
Started in industry at $26K/ year (yea, real bottom) while going to school at night. After college, moved to $45K while in grad school, then $80K after grad school. Then $130K when moved to consulting. Currently @ $210K TC at 38
$87k (30 years old) to $262k (34 years old)
Nice!!
From college graduation to 30 I tripled my income. In my 30s I more than tripled it again. And I’ve had a more meandering career path than a lot of my peers

And what does that translate to ball park numbers, for inspiration !!
30 - 90K
37 - 270K
20x between 29 and 39

My best guess would be 50k to 1m caused by pre MBA salary to post MBA to making partner at MBB.
Started late because I dropped out of grad school.
26-$30K
26-$50K (job switch)
27-$65K (raise)
28-$85K (job switch)
29-$95K (raise)
30-$125K (job switch)
30-$150K (raise)
All aprox. base amounts, I can't be bothered to remember the exact numbers on bonuses. Basically anywhere from +$1K-5K/yr.
The salary growth some people are seeing here in their 30s seems insane. Hope I can follow...
Total comp at 30: 150
Total comp at 36: 420
You’ll be at $690k in no time!
1 yr out of undergrad ~55k
30 - ~250k TC
Will see what the rest of 30’s has in store
