I went from industry into public after passing the CPA exam, taking a pay cut. No previous accounting experience, but 2 years of experience as a financial analyst.
I thought the same but industry is ridiculously mind numbing and repetitive.

Depends on the job, I did PA to industry and back to PA but stayed at the same rate.
Not the whole time, but I got a nice raise in industry. Then back to public and more nice raises. Be smart about it.
