For those who have gone through a NetSuite implementation, do you have any advice for someone leading a revenue accounting department? Anything that should be considered and planned for early on vs. post implementation? TIA for any advice!

We ended up not going with Netsuite, but a competitor. I believe that some companies need an add on for complicated revenue, (rev pro?) so worth seeing if that’s needed

NetSuite recently rolled out Advanced Revenue Management (ARM), so worth taking into a look if that's worthwhile for your org. Otherwise, just make sure your implementation team sets you up with rev rec rules, sales order / invoice approval routing, trains you on revenue arrangements and revenue waterfall report generation for recons and such. Fingers crossed for it to go smoothly for you!

Are private companies easier to work at than public companies in accounting? We have such an accelerated close deadline at the publicly traded company I’m at now, I really hate the inflexible tight deadlines and analysis seems to drag on forever after that. We also close AP/AR very early in the month yet that doesn’t stop payments/receipts from happening so we’re constantly adjusting our accruals until the end of month. Do private companies start their close after the month actually ends?
