Based on various forums, it's typically 50k but dependent on your home base airport. If you're in a big hub city (e.g. EWR), you'll need more.
Typically people do DCA and connect out of JFK, PHL, or MIA depending on the international destination.
I’m a fairly frequent international traveler based in the District and most people I know prefer connections vs. travelling out to IAD unless there’s no other option. I think I’ve done 3 IAD based international trips in 5 years vs 12 that start at DCA, and I’d consider that the norm for most people in DC and Maryland and the closer Virginia counties. Once you get farther out in NoVa, it’s United country.
Doesn’t necessarily change the business analysis, but I wouldn’t consider the DMV a place where United has a monopoly because of the preference most people have for DCA.
Got through corporate deal w United - didn’t deserve
Been a few years since I was GS, but the prevailing threshold at the time was $40-50k on UA metal. I’d imagine these days it’s probably more like $50-60k
New invites typically come January
It’s been the on-going theory that home airport is part of the equation or else you have a flood of GS and the hubs and none elsewhere.
