I’d say my work experiences and essays carried my application being that I submitted without a test score (and got scholarship) from Top 10 programs.
From what I’ve learned, work experience and essays often carry significant weight, especially for programs that value leadership and practical skills. A high test score can boost your application and show academic readiness, but it’s usually part of a bigger picture that includes your work achievements and how well you tell your story in essays. So, it's really about balancing all parts for a strong overall application
The test score is just ONE of many components that is evaluated. The test score (in conjunction with undergrad performance) is often used to determine if an applicant will be able handle the rigor of a top program.
Many schools are offering test waivers because they have alternative evidence to confirm that the applicant will be able to keep up academically.
