Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??

What’s currently happening in NC. Big decision by NC Supreme Court. Oral arguments ended today.
“The political district maps in question were drawn by GOP lawmakers in late 2021, to be used in every election from 2022 to 2030. The maps would give Republican candidates a big advantage in those elections, in part by packing large numbers of Democrats into a small number of districts.
Even if Democrats won the statewide vote by several points, outside analyses have shown, Republicans would still expect to keep majority control of the state legislature and win 10 of 14 U.S. House of Representatives seats representing North Carolina in Congress.”

Yep. Texas’s population has swelled due to people of color, which earned Texas more congressional seats. And the maps they put forth basically negates this growth of POCs completely. Texas and maybe one of its senators will turn blue before long but they’ve got the state house and house of reps on lock.

As a democrat; I’d be all for an objective redrawing of every state map. Probably the single best way to eradicate modern conservatism overnight

Both parties Gerrymander (a lottt), so I roll my eyes at the hand wringing of my fellow Democrats. Republicans have just been much more successful at it because their political operations are exponentially stronger at the state level than the DNC’s. Just look at the number of GOP controlled governor’s mansions and state houses.
IMO gerrymandering should just be made illegal. Districts should be created using an identical grid nationwide. You wanna win a seat? Win the district as it exists.
That being said, I also think if the Democrats want to ban Gerrymandering, they need to do it with a congressional vote. No more of this procedural back door stuff.

I hear ya. Thats why I mentioned “state houses” in my post. And yes, I’m aware governors don’t set voting districts, but I was using that to illustrate my point that the GOP has been dominant at the state level.
I’m also not sure I agree more successful = problematic. I do think we want a mixture of red and blue majorities to avoid extremism, but I can’t fault the GOP for taking advantage of the DNC’s malaise. When Debbie Wasserman Schultz was running the show, the Democrats’ state operations fell into total disrepair. They stopped investing and dumped all their chips into the presidency. When Clinton lost, there was no money left to keep a lot of those state operations running. It’s part of why she was forced out.
I think the GOP knows their national message is faltering, so this is the strategy they have left.
