IDEA: with layoffs and those who have jobs severely overworked, why not hire a someone laid off to split the load then pay them off the books? Good or bad idea...
A layoff was HSBC's natural next step after such a horrible year, but this is steep. Almost 10% of their workforce, wow
Sometimes I wish I worked on the commercial side for the $, but today I got 3 emails asking for my availability for upcoming Federal roles and I’m counting my blessings 🙌🏼 so thankful that I don’t have to add layoffs onto my plate of mounting worries. Sending good vibes to my commercial counterparts
How are the people and culture like at KPMG Seattle? Tight knip group? Mostly people from the PNW?
If you got a bad first performance review (actually bad, so figure a 1 or 2 out of 5, but no PIP and given the chance to improve, and also told it’s fine because first review), and you’re not getting fired over it, would you put a lot of effort into trying to move firms once you’re able to say you have a year of experience, or would you just try to improve your reputation at the firm you’re already at, since leaving after 1 year isn’t generally ideal?
That moment when one idiot replies all to group of literally 1,000s of employees and then 50 people reply to be removed or tell them they replied all. Tempted to reply all "you're all fired".
Partners: please explain to me why firms tolerate and keep around really terribly behaved partners? Do you ever actually take any action? Is it all about the bottom line or do you simply not care about your associates or culture? Please provide honest answers, I really REALLY want to understand how after decades we still have this issue! Thanks!
On my way to DU today for the Inclusion Summit but feeling really down. Got a meeting with my practice lead mid day and pretty sure its a layoff meeting - I honestly don’t know what to do...

My brother was fired for “performance” last week after 1 YOE at a boutique. He suspects the real reason is CV19. He is quite down, and feels his career is over. 🐠-any words of advice to offer him?
Do all firms share utilization reports for all staff with everyone? I feel like it’s awful for our company culture to share everyone’s stats office-wide. Just breeds anger and bad vibes all around.
Anyone have insight on Senior Associate Compensation at Alvarez & Marsal in there valuation practice in NYC? Also any insight on culture would be appreciated!

Why are transracial people being ostracized and cancelled while transgender people are becoming more and more accepted in society? Shouldn’t they both be accepted as we work toward a more inclusive culture?
Got an offer from Guidehouse for a ton more money than I make now. I love the people and culture at EY, and I don’t want to sound like a loyalist, but I’m torn. Thoughts?

How does one switch (from Risk analytics) to Digital Marketing/Customer insights analytics? Haven’t been able to land interviews for other companies, and Deloitte isn’t giving me opportunities
Recently joined a big4. Why do proposals trump all other work? Shouldn't delivering on your current client and trying to exceed expectations be the number 1 priority? Recently asked someone cont.
Received 2 offers. Told the second company that I have the first offer. They asked to see the offer letter. I don't feel comfortable doing that. Is that a normal request?
Have you ever been with someone and one day it hit you they consistently show traits of narcissistic personality disorder?

I found the “bagel/ donut,” thread interesting. The amount of denial and skepticism toward all alt-health critiques was surprising. I really think alt-health vs SAD staples skepticism is to stay.

Just had my 2nd baby after starting a new job. Was denied FMLA bc it hasn’t been a full yr. How nervous should I be about lay offs since I don’t have equity w/the company? PPD during a pandemic sucks.

As for those asking "How to freelance during a pandemic" Nobody's actually done this before, so file this as theoretical. (CONT)
