How much do you work now? How much do you expect to work in the new role? How certain is that promo? How much difference would 30% make to you vs 10% based on how you live and your financial goals? Do you have a family to support and if so does this help you do so in a better way, when factoring any difference in amount of hours weekly? On top of all of that, how secure is your job, your prospective job, and how does your path upward look at each company? All things you want to think about beyond just title and pay differences in the near term.
Of course! Best of luck to you!

You’re expecting a 40% raise on promotion?
Yeah, promotion to post MBA salary
Way too many variables. Is the company growing? Is the work interesting? How’s the WLB? Are you looking for a change? Is this high visibility? Are you currently getting sponsored by leaders in your firm?
It never really feels like a good time to leave the firm. There’s always the promo, the bonus, the 401k vesting, etc. and that’s by design. Also, if you want to leverage the promo for a higher exit opportunity, expect to spend at least another year at the company before an exit.
I feel like you’re leaning towards sticking it out for the promotion, and if that’s the case, go with your gut. But imo there’s always a reason to stick around ‘for just another 6 months’
Don’t. Industry jobs are good for mental health but if you are a consultant by trade, then you will regret it. Raises are not same as consulting, pace can be varying by how much company is investing in transformation
