Hi everyone!!! Last year I put together a list of classrooms to exchange valentines with! We mailed 1 valentine to each class and included a picture if we could, and a few things about where we live and things we do!
I currently have 13 classes signed up! The more the merrier!!
We have classes CA, WI, PA, KS, TX, RI, MI, Canada, New Zealand.
I have a form to fill out if you are interested! I will email everyone the list probably at the end of the week if not sooner!

Going down in grade levels can be tough. Remember your patience and plan on teaching everything explicitly from how to come into the classroom until they meet their ride home. Every single thing will be new to one of them. The more you practice the easier it will be. The more routines and procedures you have the more ownership they’ll take. When you realize they’re looking at you like you’re crazy, back up and try again. Don’t be afraid to scrap things that are too hard/easy. I went from third to kinder and it was a rough adjustment at first but I love love love it in kindergarten. Remember you are their first experience in school and they’ll love you despite just about anything.
The first week is hard. On everybody. I’ve been teaching K for 11years. Don’t let the first week reflect what kindergarten is like. It is the best grade and most rewarding, in my opinion. You literally teach kids how to read, how to write! You are the first person that gets to teach them about literally everything (history, science). It’s amazing to see where they start (some who have never even seen a letter before) and where they are at the end of the year. Just get through that first week and don’t take it personal.
Remember they have to be taught how to BE school kids! I always remind myself that they are like babies at the beginning of the year, they need every routine and procedure pointed out and taught to them. 😉👍
