Find an older mentor and latch onto them.
Their life experiences/expertise/network will help you navigate career progression better.
Find a peer rival and train with them.
Bounce ideas off of each other, trade best practices, motivate each other, etc.
If you can't currently think of ppl in your life to fill those roles. Network till you find them.
Both of these relationships work best if you develop a GENUINE personal relationship first. (imo)

Not everything is a tangible skill.
Figure out what value the successful people at your company are adding.
Sometimes it's just being a good conversation, sometimes it's having the right perspective of influence, sometimes it's proactively anticipating your managers needs.
When you're adding value, people will make sure you're a part of the momentum. No different than who you make sure to invite to social activities; make sure you're a must-have at the party!
My advice is to never stop learning. Find ways to challenge yourself and stay on top of the latest trends in your field. In my own experience, I’ve found the best way to do this is to take classes, attend seminars, read industry publications, and network with peers. Through these activities, I’ve been able to keep my skills current and stay ahead of the curve.
My advice for those looking to gain or improve their skills in their current position is to take initiative. Try to find ways to improve processes, learn new skills, and look for opportunities to show what you’re capable of. Hope this helps!
Patience and flexibility: patience with yourself b/c you've never done it before and flexibility b/c you're multi-tasking with a full time job
