If you want to do tech work, Google is a million times better option here. Unless you prefer consulting
Mountain View is much more expensive compared to Atlanta , so factor that when you get the offer from either.
Just know that getting an interview is not same as getting an offer. Both are very selective on who they hire. So before making up your mind on anything, get through the rounds and have an offer
Long term I like to work in tech, but I do like the flexibility of being remote and flying when need to.
I use to live in Oakland, CA back in 2014 when I left the military but I know times have changed drastically.
I am also aware Google / BCG are selective and the the interviews are interesting so I will be preparing for each round thoroughly.
Revisit this conversation once you have completed the interview processes for both. Until then, just craft a story for each on why it's the "perfect" next opportunity for you based on your experience
Thank you for the advice!

Get the offers then decide, the Google opportunity will be very competitive
Sending good vibes. You got this!
No brainer - Google / DeepMind over consulting any day.
Very true. I have had really good friends leave consulting and go to amazing places. Im hoping to make a similar leap. I’ll keep praying and putting in the work until it happens
Good luck w the interviews, just curious what level at D are you?
Good question. I am a Consultant with an MS in Computer Science. Though I am alittle upset that I could not get promoted due to “market conditions”. Was told the same messaging last year after working on a ~1.5 year engagement working as the Test Strategy Lead
Curious about how you got an interview at DeepMind — did you reach out to someone at the company or did the recruiter reach out to you?
Sure, interview != offer, but still, congrats on landing interviews at both places! It’s a tough market
In the past, I had a Google Recruiter reach out directly for an Application Developer role but this opportunity was through reaching out directly to the person who I thought was over the role. I guess it worked out perfectly since it was the correct person and he had a similar background and career experience as myself, minus the military
When did you get this interview? I saw on Blind they laid a bunch of folks off
I did not hear about that which is very interesting. I had my interview last Thursday. In any case I had a call with a Meta Engineering Manager for a Data Engineer role on Friday along with the BCG Platinion call.
Google - no brainer..
Where did you go?
Google >>> Texh advisory manager focusing on PowerPoint and PMO work
