New to consulting, looking to buy luggage carry on, currently SA. Should I invest in a Tumi/Rimowa or just buy something like Samsonite/travel pro?

Any other thoughts on recommendations are welcome.
Thanks all.

Go for the more expensive ones, just because you could.

I use briggs and riley; may have opted for tuminout of convenience (no b&r store in chicago). They have the same warranty and ~25-30% cheaper; trade off is less brand recognition and slightly less convenient repairs.

helpful

Also worth noting that B&G sells very cheap self-repair kits and has videos/resources on common issues. I love the right to repair and the idea of doing simple things myself to avoid having to send my suitcase away for repairs. If you’re a heavy traveler, this is clutch.

Samsonite, Away are better options than Tumi. Much better pricepoint, will last you at least 5 years. Tumi to me wreaks of junior consultant trying to be a big boy.

Amazon basics luggage is great. Used for domestic and international flights for 3 years, holding up great.

Tumi is a rip off, except maybe the alpha backpack lol

Uh, it’s a decision I’ll have to stick with for a while and never had a traveling job so looking for advice. Thanks!

I have a monos carry on and I love it. Has flown with me across the world for the past two years. Sturdy, reliable, and always fits into every international plane and train I’ve ever been on. Couldn’t ask for anything better.

Get a backpack that can attach to your carry on handle too! Makes traveling easier - no need to wear your backpack

Why post on this bowl? 🤔

Good.

Save some cash and invest. Rimowa is so overpriced. You’ll be thankful for those savings when you become tired of consulting.

I use Bric’s

Briggs and Reilly. After Tumi’s BS with their lifetime warranty no one should every buy their overpriced cases, especially since the decline in quality after the Samsonite takeover.

Have had my tumi since i began the consulting grind 10 years ago. Suitcase has been amazing. Wheel broke about 5 years ago and they replaced it for free. Have the tumi laptop case too. Guess I’m an OG consultant now

Nobody said anything to my face haha. I was traveling 80% of my life at the time so it was necessary to have solid luggage

Purchase from Away

I use the travelpro platinum it’s solid.

Also agree with Samsonite - got it in Europe on a whim and it’s amazing. But you don’t get the “status” of having a Tumi I guess

Throughout my career, I have worked at both “traditional” and “digital” shops. My current agency would fall under traditional but also offers digital services. Our process, roles and skillsets seem way outdated but I wasn’t sure if it was just my opinion or if this is just how it works. For example, we have no CTO or tech leads. Our digital producers feel more like project managers than actual producers. Account Management is just traditional, no real digital knowledge. Feels layered and dated.
