If you already earn enough to provide for your family, your kids won't remember the extra $20k. What they will remember is your lack of presence.
Don’t worry about others promotion stories…determine this by how you’ve seen your current management at your current company handle the responsibilities and balance. Every company treats management differently.
Personally, $20k is not enough to lose the flexibility especially with twins.
Are you sure you’re gonna forfeit the “free time” you currently have when you take the offer tho?
Usually you gain more flexibility at the manger level, not less. You will also have more responsibility, but I wouldn’t be too worried about being able to coach and have dinner at home if you can already do that now. Don’t assume that it will be worse and give up $20k for no valid reason.
The last 2 years at manager have been the most flexibility I've ever had. But that is highly on the people I have at the senior level.
It's a no brainer. You can never make up the time that you miss with your family.
