If you disagree with this type of interview in a group and not on individual skills, knowledge, abilities and experience, then the person doing the interview was not prepared or qualified enough to do the job.

They probably weren't but in half the jobs I've been in have I ever been trained well to do things?😂

A group interview with five candidates is too much. I’d say if you are going to do a group interview, no more than three. Otherwise how do you differentiate and isolate each person’s skills and abilities? I’d actually like to hear from a hiring manager about the benefits of a group interview and how they are able to evaluate each person fairly

That'd be interesting. I think they just do it because they're lazy or inefficient I can't see many if any benefits of them...

Hard agree. Group interviews reward volume, not competence. Being loud in a circle proves nothing about handling a rush, de escalating a pissed off customer, or making decisions under pressure. It’s lazy hiring disguised as efficiency and usually backfires later when the wrong people are on the floor.

Agreed. Group interviews reward volume, not real skill. Hospitality is about awareness, teamwork, and handling pressure, none of which show up in a room full of people talking over each other. It feels more like a shortcut than a fair assessment.
