Guys, here’s your friendly reminder that you should always assume that anything you email to anyone at any point in time COULD end up in the New York Times.

Gosh, wish I could post some of the things that have been emailed to me over the years in the NYT.

Double dog dare you

"In one day this young associate responded to 32 emails with "will do!" Meanwhile from our records it is clear that he maintained active usage of his TikTok app"

likefunny

“Dance like no one is watching. Email like it will be read aloud in a deposition…”

like

Yep exactly

The risk of that is so preposterously small. What next, send every text like it’ll be on the cover of the NYT? Just live your life.

My self expression has never necessitated implicating myself in a federal crime but you do you

Over heard today about bad behavior in biglaw : if you had to explain to someone’s parents or loved ones how you treated them and you’d be unable to do so without feeling awkward or embarrassed, you are the problem.

Working on some law firm applications tonight and it sucks that I know that I am so capable and have a strong work ethic but firms can’t see beyond grades or the fact that I didn’t go to a t14 law school or prestigious undergrad. I’ve worked twice as hard and feel like I’ve barely even gotten half as much. It’s discouraging sometimes especially because I worked so hard with pretty much no guidance (first gen, poc, low-income) to get into college and do well and then get into a t30 law school

Serious question: what was biglaw like back in the 90s? Did ya'll have big cellphones and catered lunches? How is it different for associates back then versus now?
