Had a client tell me I was too young to lead a tech team. I’m 34 with ten years of experience, multiple certifications, and I’ve delivered more successful projects than anyone else in the room. I wanted to snap back, but instead I smiled and kept it professional... then spent the rest of the day fuming. How do you respond to that kind of ageism (and sexism) without losing your cool?

You handled it better than I would have. I used to try to “prove” myself every time this happened, but honestly, I’ve stopped giving free emotional labor to people who underestimate me. Deliver once, and then make sure they remember your name when it’s time to renew the contract.

Should I leave my first permanent job as a team leader of 4 DPs in a FMCG business (only been there for 4 months) to join a huge Tech business for a 12months contract?

They offer me 60% more money than my permanent role. Circa 2000 dollars every month in my pocket

However, I am worried if I accept the tech role and I do not become permanent I will be looking again for a job in 12-24 months and my CV won't be showing a managerial position. Won't be showing any progress.

Hi there. Ex Deloitte Sr Mgr here, currently in tech pre sales (SaaS / MarTech). Recently spoke to both Salesforce and Adobe recruiters for roles that I thought were lateral moves (Sr SA / Sr SC), therefore I did not proceed with the selection process. The recruiters from both companies told me they typically hire at that level, and people are considered for promotion to Principal in 1 to 2 years. I found that odd. Is that right? What’s the typical TC for SAs and SCs there? (15+ yrs exp).
