Your not getting the job, friend. Also how can you mistakenly show up to the office?
I didn’t “mistakenly show up”.
Again I did not mistakenly show up.
I came in on a business day for the inquiry of my application status.
And what future opportunities would be available.
They then told me that they do not do ”walk-in” visitations. This was after a a director had heard that I met with reception and was informed of the appointment requirements.
I got the news of a decision to place a ban on non-appointment walk-ins that evening.
Just the fact that you don’t have the self-awareness to know better not to email the Chief Legal Officer (who have more important things to deal with such as opioid situation than some random college applicant) shows that you aren’t fit for the job
If you wouldn’t mind
Could you explain your context of how it is that I could have been
More self aware?
Thank you.
No thank you.
How do you mistakenly show up to an office?
Why would the chief legal officer reply to an applicant? And why would they do anything to undermine the HR director?
MBB is not Pokémon, you do not need to collect them all, nor are you entitled to it.
No but a global ban on a mistaken walk-in business visitation is slightly over the top would you agree?
People make mistakes. And I was only made informed of the appointment requirement in
Person!
No initial provided disclaimer or reference on the appointment standard !
Global ban to Public visitation !
No trespass violation.
Just a business venture visitation to a open to public property.
That’s why I reached out to the CLO!
Yes, please tell more deets on how you just show up to one of the offices?! Sounds like there’s more to the story …
I do not wish to provide too much details.
I am awaiting assistance from the Chief Legal Officer.
I reached out to him via email informing him of my need of assistance.
Long story short.
McKinsey made a mistake in administrative decision!
One does not simply “mistakenly show up” at an office and get a global ban unless there’s more to the story. Either tell the full story or accept the consequences.
I was banned for a what was a non-appointment business visitation.
I came in to ask about the status of my Business Consultant position application status.
I had completed an interview and reapplied.
I did not know of or had reason to know of any such non-appointment ban to visitation standard prior to visiting the local office.
I had my business concerns and inquires handled respectfully and kindly by reception, got home, and recieved an email that evening stating that the HR Director heard of my visit and requested legal department issue a ban to me.
I received an email from an Attorney of McKinsey stating that the ban had been extended
I had then sent a letter of accountability and apology to the HR Director and have been awaiting a correspondence.
I hope to have someone assist me
In recindment and
Lifting of the ban
OP, sorry you’re going through this. I would strong urge you to seek employment elsewhere and recognize that McKinsey is unlikely to work out in the short to medium term
If I found out you had applied to my office I would ban you here also
Sounds like there is more to the story…
1) you don’t come in mistakenly
2) even if you do, they would just turn you away
3) you don’t get “banned” randomly
That is correct.
Also yes I was told I was banned locally and globally for what was my mistaken non-appointment visitation.
I left with no idea that would be coming my way.
I got home that evening and received an email stating the HR Director had reached out to the Legal Department and requested they place the local and global ban on me for the business visitation.
I have thus reached to the Chief Legal Officer.
I am awaiting his correspondence.
I have prepared a letter of accountability and have forwarded it to the Director who incited the ban to my visitation and global job opportunities.
It’s sad because the NY office from phone interactions we’ve had seemed to have really liked me.
However when I applied , I was reached to by NJ office that they had heard of my attempt to work at NY and effectively told me that they had discouraged my application be reviewed and moved forward.
In the letter I included a note of accountability the mistake as well as an apology and a request to rescind the ban and global ban.
I have even reached out to the likes of the Chief Legal Officer who has yet to respond as well as the Assistant to the Director.
I truly believe whereas there was nothing rather conflicting about my visit to the NJ office that day and instead a positive interaction with receptionist staff was established and had (I was referred to future career opportunities pertaining my interest in my then prepared and active application) , a ban to my visitation as well as ban to my job market interest is largely over stringent.
I am largely restricted in my agile movement in #movetombb whereas McKinsey is a current restraint against my portfolio.
Any advice on how can relieve the global ban as per NJ office discretion?
I will take names and numbers. TY.

There is no way that you’re sharing the complete story. Just showing up to an office to inquire about an application won’t put you on a global ban. In any case, I would focus my efforts elsewhere and learn what you can from the situation.
