I put my phone on personal mode on the weekends and before and after “work hours” during the week. Brings me intense peace. Hard to do as an associate, but if you don’t find ways to care for yourself, they and the work will run you ragged.
I work on the weekends sometimes. Sometime more often than not. But putting boundaries like this in place helps
Oh, I would say it is pretty normal for me to work a few hours just about every Saturday. And I often spend and hour or two working on Sundays as well, it just depends on my case load. I usually only get a full Saturday or weekend off if I schedule a break for myself, which happens two or three times a year. But I knew what I was signing up for.
Are you compensated well? Because I refuse to work weekends
If they surveyed who's working more on weekends based on race, I wonder what that would look like. Luckily, I've never worked on a Saturday after going in house.
Me! And I’m in-house 😭
Nope I get paid 68k as a second year attorney, which is low, so I’m never working weekends.
NYC region.
Saturdays are just extra Fridays. Just like Sundays are pre-Mondays. No such thing as a weekend in big law.
