Why would someone accept an analyst role if you already have 2 years of experience? Are you really underpaid? Just curious, because I D recruiter reached out to me and I have the same experience and would only consider an offer at their consultant level..
Then absolutely you should definitely take the analyst position since it sounds like you don’t have that much experience to begin with. if you come in at a consultant level sometimes you will be expected to perform a at a sr con level and have to lead a team on smaller projects.
Who cares about level if u get paid ? If anything you will perform better than ur peers and thereby get promoted faster with better raises.
Yes. Happens most times with D. They bring lateral hires at a level below.
@OP how did you get an interview??
@ibm1 I got a referral, then a recruiter reached out to me
If that’s the case then analyst is the correct level for you. It technically takes 2 years to make Consultant, though I’ve seen some folks get it with 1 year of relevant experience.
Do not join a firm with expectations of early promotion. Join only if you’re willing to take the position at the level offered.
@OP you shouldn’t sell yourself short. If you got paid for 2 years at IBM you have 2 years of experience, it’s not like the analysts at Deloitte would take into account time at DU and stuff. Personally I wouldn’t take the level cut. Progression is definitely an indicator of your performance, you’d be looking at exits for positions at the same level as someone 2 years later undergrad as you.
Just got the offer but don’t know if I should take it
So since I have 2 years consulting experience already, would I promote fairly quickly to Consultant ?
Nice. I can’t seem to find someone from Deloitte willing to give me a referral
Is there different analyst levels? And tbh I did the 2 years but actually hands on experience was probably only a year if you add in time for training and bench time
Nope just 1 level. You can try for early promotion
Will Deloitte higher someone with only one year of experience? Maybe to an analyst role?
So it for a strict 2 years? Regardless of how long you worked before?
No it’s possible you can get promoted early if you do well but general rule of thumb is 2 yrs after joining
I'm with A1 on this one
Not sure if I agree with C1. Be true to yourself so you don’t put yourself in a position where you hate your life. I’ve know a few consultants who sold themselves into a level they probably weren’t ready for and very quickly they found out they couldn’t handle the level of responsibility required. Two of them were “let go” in less than a yr. Two quit since they couldn’t handle the pressure. Do you really want to be the Con that knows less 2nd or 3rd year BTAs who have more “experience” than you?
Does it look weird if you were promoted from a consultant to senior consultant at one firm and then go to another firm and go back to consultant?
I did 2 years as an analyst and came to D as a Consultant. It's strange because I also feel like I came in too early, but I've done decently so far so I think it might just be imposter syndrome.
