Yes. You can file for unemployment right away. You might not get the money till your last paycheck has cleared. For obamacare, I will call them and tell them your new current situation so that you can get better rate. Hang in there.. It always works out.

A1 what do you mean about calling to get better Obamacare rates? Pretty sure premiums are set based on location, age, and whether or not you smoke and that's it.
A2 - The basic premiums are, but if you no longer have income, you might be eligible for subsidies.
Was on a health care reform project for over 2 years 🤓 agree that OP needs to get insurance. Just wanted to get all the facts around premiums and subsidies set straight!
Don't you get cobra? It's retroactive so if anything happens you can submit after the fact.
They won't pay you unemployment till all that money has cleared. You don't want them to pay you along with pending payments as they will consider this income and ask you to payback the unemployment funding. I made that mistake.

Yes but subsidies are based on yearly income. If OP even qualifies for them, s/he will likely have to pay it all back next tax season when his/her full year earnings are known
A2 - do you work for FFM? Haha! Yes that's correct.. But subsidies help when there is no pay check.. Also if OP goes without insurance then he/she can get penalized during taxes next year.
A2 - Correct, but that depends on when OP gets a new job. Might as well take the subsidies now and repay only if necessary.
