Those PE owners will be looking for ROI. Think about what that means during their ownership period and when they eventually exit?
I was approached to join a PE backed consulting firm. I haven’t talked with the search yet. But whenever I see PE-backed, I am hesitated considering the heavy cost-cutting driven culture
P1: the debt wasn't earmarked for anything specific, just how PE does financing. The employee-owners at that time got a nice one-time payout.
As an Accenture MD, I would say avoid, if possible, services firms that are not partnerships. All public or PE backed firms have a clear hierarchy of claims to earnings and it’s not the people out in the market really earning the money.
Depends on your level of MD, P3. I’d be staggered if Big 4 partners are not earning more than L4/L3. L2/L1 comp can be very good, though.
Are you in a responsibilities based or performance-based model?
Their recruiters reach out all the time, but no interest in being a line partner at a PE backed portco.
I get at least 2-3 calls/ month from recruiters for these PE backed “high growth“ consulting firms looking for an experienced leader to grow their client base in my sector. They seem to have very limited knowledge of what a competitive package looks like at our level, given the risk that one would be taking on to join them
Very similar experience
“No equity, less brand recognition / commercial platform, lower pay, come on over”
I know I won’t be making that jump - but pretty easy to see who would. I predict at least some collapses in the medium term
I just had a reach out from a SHREK regarding a Partner/Practice Leader role at a "PE-backed multi billion dollar management consulting firm". Don't know which one yet. What questions should I be asking?
Was approached, had a couple of discussions, lacked the motivation to pursue it further
