If you get fired from big law, how likely is a firm to be vindictive re recommendations etc
Sign-on Bonuses, is it typical for a company to ask for a re-payment agreement? i.e. 100% if leave/fired within 12 months, 50% if leave/fired within 24 months?
Me and some friend wanted to help out during the mass layoffs that are currently happening - so we created refsy.io. We want to make referrals easy, and have signed up 50+ referrers from FAANG companies - check it out!
I have been in the job market from last 4-5 weeks since I was laid off from Microsoft as a recruiter. My experience is not great as I have applied for more than 75 jobs with the organisations I am interested in for the roles which are in mid level considering I have 5 years of experience. I am targeting for about CAD 90-110k annually and I am located in Toronto, Canada. Do you feel things will pace up this month and my expectations are reasonable?
History of BCG layoffs anyone?
For recruiters, hiring managers, HR, or anyone with past experience — if I’ve been laid off (startup financial problems) and I’ve set my LinkedIn to “open to work,” should I also post something that says I’m looking? I saw someone post their resume + open to work and asked people to share with their network, and while I’m not willing to be quite that vulnerable, it made me wonder if there’s value in a post like that.
Recently accepted an offer at Twitter (I haven’t resigned yet thankfully) and of course have yet to hear back since the news of the layoffs.
Am I crazy to move forward if the offer isn’t rescinded? I’m deflated after many rejections, unhappy in my current role and the role is something I’m passionate about - I’m also no better off in terms of TC and frustrated since there will be no RSU package due to the acquisition.
I have very mixed feelings after how they treated their staff this week!
I have been working in the field for 4 years and while I love the field—I am tired of it. So I just recently got laid off and I want to know how to get into SAAS? Should I take a SDR/BDR role or could I cut it as an AE? 4 years in a closing role, no SAAS experience, but I do understand how close sales and work a pipeline. Also, would certs. Help me get into a AE SAAS role more easily?
I’m feeling very unfulfilled 60 days into my job. Like I’m not proud of the work I’m doing, I’m getting no training, and genuinely my manager has turned out to be not great. I’m trying hard to ride it out as I had to take this job out of a layoff and it just has snowballed into something very different then what was in the description. Should I leave or try to just fix things even further?
I applied to several companies a few weeks ago, jobs are still posted, but I haven't gotten a single call, email, or text to interview OR to reject my application....very frustrating!
Is this even a good time to be looking at a career change with all the HR/TA layoffs that have been happening? 🤔 I have a stable job, Im just severely underpaid and struggling to make ends meet.

Looking for a career pivot.
An engineer by graduation, but worked in sales and business development for 15 years. Life just happened and didn't get on the IT train. Things were good before the pandemic but then got laid off. Have been upskilling and reskilling since then in data analytics, RPA and some product management.
Pretty much will be almost like starting a new career from scratch.
What kind of jobs can I start looking for?
Need suggestions and guidance. Thanks in advance.
I was just let go from a huge round of layoffs. I have considered myself to be a high performer and was told it all came down to years of experience. I really loved this company and my heart is broken and confidence is shattered. Any advice or suggestions?
So I’m training my counterpart in India to do a similar role to what I’m doing now. I’m assured of a promotion in the next 3 months but they just stopped hiring my position in the US. I feel like I should be safe and the plan towards how my responsibilities should change seem solid and logical, but a million people have said that before getting laid off. Feels like shit. Looking for advice.
Layoff in IQVIA?
What happens if I get terminated from Infosys? I will never join IT anymore so will it be a problem if I get myself fired?
A note from CEO has been updated on the internal company blog couple of hours back which has details about layoffs and direction we are moving ahead as a organisation. Should provide clarity to all folks.

I’m an averagely competent baby lawyer at a top 20 UK firm. I’m interested in getting exposure to high profile and complex deals, so weighing up offers from Sidley and Latham.I’m able to work hard, but is it likely that I’ll be out of my depth? Do I need to be incredibly competent to succeed at these types of firms?
I am not sure of House rent amount as I ll be shifting to base location in next 2 months. Can I show an estimate amount for 80C on payroll portal for now and update HRA and 80C after 3 months maybe? Is this possible?

My current job has decent WLB; however unless someone leaves the team, I am stuck where I am. The job gets boring and every day I feel I am dragging myself in front the laptop.
My son is turning 10months soon, for my next move looking for 1) decent WLB, and 2) big pay bump. Is it possible in audit world? Or do I need to consider a career change? If so, what would you suggest? Thanks!
What's your go to skincare product from Sephora?
When communicating boundaries, or saying no to a request from a colleague or even a manager, sometimes I feel like I'm being seen as hard to work with rather than stating my boundraries...is it just me?
People are assuming that all the posts are from male population and they are responding with Mr and Sir and I am getting real kick out of it hahaha 😂😂😂. Just for fun and I am liking this anonymity.

Looking for advice on what to do with clients if I want to go in-house. We have 5 other attorneys so as of now my clients could likely be absorbed into the rest of the law firm. However if 1-2 of the attorneys here left that wouldn’t be an option. Has anyone done this and have tips?I don’t have an offer yet but I’m trying to prepare. My firm knows I’m exploring this as a career option.

One thing I love as a consultant, when I fly I listen to all these new best albums all the way through and really try to get a handle on what the artists vision was for their project
I was asked by a friend for a few management consultant books (similar to liar's poker in the finance industry) to check out. The only one I can think of is Peter Drucker's Adventures of a Bystander (good but not too much consulting)... any suggestions! 😁
I am in institutional consulting for pensions. I have passed all three levels of CFA. I don't see a lot of growth in consulting monetarily. Can anyone please share their experience or thoughts on whether it makes sense to stay put and progress through the ranks or should I move to another area? If yes to the latter then what options do I have please. TIA

Potential incoming KPMG experienced hire looking to negotiate a comp. Nearing 14YOE with an MS. Currently at 220k base (4-6% annual bonus, 9% 401k match) at a company, and want to bring me on at the Senior Associate level (lol I know, I know). Gonna try to upgrade to a Manager level role if possible. Based on where I’m at, is KPMG going to even be close? I’m okay with a lateral move as well, since I’d like experience and branding also.
Is the sapphire reserve better to use at Marriott stays than the Marriott card? 3 % vs Marriott's 50 percent bonus on base points. Can't decide. I will cancel Marriott's card if this is the case.
Lost status with United - did their premier status match 2 years ago and can’t do it again (5 year wait).Should I just create a new frequent flyer with United and do a match again?
Ideas on a good savings accounts with high APY? Saw MARCUS at 0.6% but also CURRENT at 4.0%. Wondering what good options are, why CURRENT can give such a high rate and also alternative suggestions. I also have some market ETFs but look to put some savings of around 100k aside more stable. New to the US and relatively new to investing, so appreciate any insides!
LEK or Kearney?
There is no shame or stigma in getting laid off; it happens to the best of us. Don't lie in interviews. Ex employer's policies notwithstanding, it is not unusual for prospective employers to check back channels to get the real scoop.
Just take the high road in interviews, and give it a positive spin. You enjoyed your time at xyz, you learned a tremendous amount, and you forged some lasting friendships. You received positive feedback and reviews, and you understand that being downsized was just business, and you don't take it personally. Etc., etc. Good luck to you. You will land on your feet.
Completely agree with what P1 just said. Don't dig yourself a hole you can't climb out of. NFL players get released all the time. It what you can do for the new employer that matters.
Yay P1. Perfect answer!
