Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
What jobs are currently paying 85k?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Yes! I just started my job two months ago and I negotiated from $82,000 a year that they offered me to $87,000 a year. I already had a job so I wasn't too nervous about them rescinding the offer or anything. I'm glad I negotiated, I'm much happier with the current number.
You just grossed $96 a week. But every little bit helps.
Yes for my last 2 roles I’ve negotiated outside of the maximum posted salary. And before that I was able to get a 20% pay increase due to merit one year. I would never leave a role for less than an 18% increase, but my goal is always 30%+, which has happened each time.
I have negotiated every role. 9/10 I have gotten what I asked for. I actually just negotiated my severance package. Everything should be negotiated. They will just tell you what that can offer.
Yes. Got an offer for $200k, but the healthcare plan was shiat ($3k a month + Deductibles/Copays) - would’ve been a $30k+ delta of what I am earning and paying today.
Said it was a nonstarter, so they came back with $220k + $10k signing + $500/mo travel stipend.
Still wasn’t enough to balance the scales. I turned it down.
Please let us know what sector this company is in and how large it is, example it’s a software company with 200 employees versus it’s a software company with 20,000 employees. That could definitely be a difference.
I’m going to venture that it’s a larger company because they’re (offer) paying you over 200,000 a year that may be title related or role related, but the size of the company may make a difference. Either that or who ever negotiated that healthcare contract needs to be fired.
Even though a price range was posted, if you're near the top end of that range, HR may be trying to settle for as minimal as possible the company needs to pay out. Don't sell yourself short. The job will still be there someday.
