Additional Posts in Job Hunting in Tech
I'm looking to find a job like the Forward Deployed Engineer role Palantir Technologies in the UK.
I have become hooked on finding a job that involves solving the kinds of problems they presented during their interviews. Although I got to the final round my performance anxiety got the better of me (I think I wanted the job a bit too much...). I will reapply after working in a similar company.
Is it "deep tech" / "data science" or "smart enterprise" that they're doing? Any advice welcome.

I did, but this was about six years ago. I’ve heard things have changed now. I think if you do a Boot Camp and then prioritize projects and having a solid portfolio, that will definitely help.
This used to work like a charm, but hardly works at all anymore. The bootcamps got way too popular and I think the need for coders has also changed. So yeah, I wouldn't bank on these programs being a job guarantee anymore.
Pre-Covid, pre TikTok influencers selling the “$200k straight out of bootcamp” dream. This hasn’t been the case since 2022 at least
Yeah I went to Lambda 2019-20, and then got hired but only because I sold myself short. It took 4 months after I graduated. I took a pizza delivery driver job in the between to fill in the income while my wife worked as well and we had a 6 year old and a new born at the time so it wasn’t an easy time it was hard, being a delivery driver was not hard so it allowed me to not be drained to continue working on self projects for my portfolio which I think ultimately helped as well.
Lambda was big on promoting high salaries so I was gunning for 80k-100k jobs at first at first but I got no calls and the competition was insane even then, it wasn’t until I started to put that I was looking for 50-60k that I started to get calls. I got hired at 60k and after a year they made me a senior and bumped me to 100k, since I helped launch one of their main applications to production. In retrospect I would have rather gone to community college if I could, but given my situation that was not possible at the time, so we opted for a short 9 month boot camp program.
I did almost 3 years ago. I had a lot of previous work experience in other areas, which I’m sure helped me to secure my role.
I got offers from small startups so I imagine larger companies will overlook bootcamp grad unless they have very impressive projects interview extremely well
Companies used to sponsor the bootcamps and part of the deal was a job at the end. I guess from your post that isn't done anymore ☹️
I don't know anyone.
