Would recommend a new name! We have a tradition in my family where we identify traits from the previous dogs that are fully present in our new dogs. A nice way to remember those that we had previously

You should do what makes you happy. If using the same as the prior dog helps you honor the last dog and you still love the new dog with your whole heart then I don’t see the issue.
If the old name just makes you remember and or grieve the old dog then don’t.
New doggo deserves their own place in your heart. As long as that’s true even if the name is the same then go for it.
I know it might be difficult to give up on a beloved pet or a name you love but I think you will kick yourself later if you don't select a different name for your pup
I think you should show some respect for the dead and select a different name (saying this politely)

My sweet Lola is named after another boxer I had that I fostered and loved. She healed a piece of my heart after I lost my best boxer friend of 15 years, I will never name another dog Tuggy. That is my heart boys name
My dogs have always been small. I named one Teddy Bear, then the next dog was Baby Bear, then the next one was Bratty Bear, and now I have Jillian - Jilly Bear. That worked for me.
Funny story my mother's husband liked peekapoo dogs. His first one he had for a long time he named the dog tiki. Well tiki passed away after a long happy life. Eventually he got another peekapoo guess what he named it? Yep tiki as well as several others after that! Not to original. However The dogs didn't seem to mind.
