Short, sweet and to the point is the way to go. "The company had a bad year and my entire team was laid off." There's nothing to be embarrassed about or any reason to think they're going to press you on it. Layoffs have been hitting everywhere. Interviewers know this and aren't going to hold it against you.
Nailed it. “The company had a territory realignment which, unfortunately, made my position redundant.”
Then stfu about it. Why would you carry a bunch of negativity from the past into a current interview anyway? It’s over and done, and brooding about it won’t change a thing and makes you look and feel bad.

I would say it clearly, then move on quickly. I think where people go wrong is overexplaining. If I sound confident and not emotional about it, it usually lands well.
Always be open and honest. They can easily verify what you say during an interview.

Can you? I don't think it is that easy especially nowadays

I think simple and neutral works best. I would state it clearly, then move on. The more you try to soften it, the more attention it draws.
