Few of my friends have reported being bored a lot after moving in house
Moved in-house recently and the expectation was made clear when I was hired that it’s not biglaw house and weekend work is rare. About 2 months in and so far that has been the case, but the team has a few attorneys and a couple of support staff.
I don’t regret it because of the hours but I am really bored and I really dislike working with one team member so I just need to find another opportunity.

I’ll pitch in to say that I have a great work life balance (rarely work after 5 and never on weekends) and intellectually stimulating work as product counsel, which is a real career outside of big law. I think if I was a commercial counsel and just cranking out contracts, I would be bored.
Money is fine, but obviously not what I made as a 7th year, but I’m single without any real obligations so it worked out for me.
IHC experiences vary widely so you need to kick the tires on the role, people, and also know yourself and what you do/don’t like and the sacrifices that are worth it to you. No role is ever perfect.
I would echo other commenters that in-house positions vary a lot. I was at a V50 firm billing 200-300 hours every month. I got burned out and needed a change. I'm a couple months in in-house and haven't worked any late nights or weekends. Maybe it is the drastic difference between big law and my new role, but I do find myself getting bored. I think I will likely look at going back to private practice soon.
