Hired just as I was about to become pregnant via IVF. Disclosed everything to my potential new boss at the time. Told her that the very week she wanted me to start was the week of my transfer. She said “that’s amazing, well I hope this is a long term relationship”. I’ve been with her for 13 years. 2 kids under her watch.
Oh wow! If only more companies were run by women...this is awesome to hear.
FCB Chicago hired me in my third trimester and I was eligible for 12 weeks of leave after 30 days. It was amazing to have that degree of support.
I was only six weeks when I signed the offer letter, but I had a previous loss so I wasn’t ready to say anything. I did ask about the maternity leave policy and confirmed I didn’t have to be there a year to get paid leave. It all worked out. No regrets.
I did. For a short-term contract role, but I also didn’t disclose I was pregnant, and I’m pretty sure they just thought I was chubby since it was early on, so...

I did twice. I hid it though both times. (Well one time I found out I was pregnant just as I started, the other literally as I signed the offer letter) One time I qualified for leave, the other I didn’t
I got recruited for a role when I was 6 months pregnant and I was very upfront about it. Got the role and been at the agency for almost 2 years now.
Yep. FCB Chicago hired me at 4 mos. I told them after the first interview expecting to be dropped. But here I am.
Hired at 4 months pregnant. Leaving my previous job was the best decision I ever made but super terrifying at the time.
Hired for a long term contract role while five months. Disclosed at offer.
I don’t work for an agency but I was hired in Nov when I was around 26 weeks. I told them the day I accepted the offer and they were obviously surprised but took it in stride and still happy for me to join. I had previously confirmed through internal connections that there was no minimum work requirement to qualify for paid leave.
Yes - I was a freelancer and they knew my quality of work. Paid mat leave was part of the negotiation and I had WFH flexibility. It was a (mostly) woman team where the 3 leads all had children.👍🏼
Twice. First time, the hiring manager knew, and I was starting as an hourly employee at 8 months pregnant. Manager said I will probably be bored when the baby is born, because babies sleep so much. So I could WFH part-time 2 wks after giving birth. Oddly, she was right. It was my first child, and having a few hours of work helped me balance the dramatic identity crisis I experienced at the time.
Second time, I was hired at 6 months pregnant as a contractor (at my dream job). I told the company I had another project at my due date. They knew I would not be available for 3 months, but no one appeared to notice I was expecting. Loose clothes helped. I was almost 8 mo along when someone noticed. I chose not to disclose earlier because I really needed the income and felt I communicated my availability appropriately. They ended up offering me a full-time job after my 3 months off with the new baby.
Hired I mean
Haha Fcb has never hired me!
I got hired during and my rule was, if it’s too early to tell family or friends then it was too early to tell a job. Once I told my manager when I was further along, she was super supportive and it was such a relief. I was scared because she wasn’t a mom, but turns out I incorrectly assumed her reaction. I’m not sure it would have been necessary to say so early anyway, would have just put people in an unnecessary tailspin
Sadly didn’t work out for me. I got the offer but learned I wouldn’t qualify for their mat leave policy so I couldn’t take it.. I’m encouraged by these other stories though.
