Why do couples want to have children? Are we expected to, will we regret it later down the line, or are we seeking “joy/happiness” or “support” later in life? I’m 32/F and still not sure if I ever want to be a mother. I see the toll motherhood takes on women, not to mention societal and family expectations. But what am I missing here?

Our baby is due soon so we’ve made the decision that we will only have visits from vaccinated family members (not realizing it would be an issue) only to find out that my Dad will never be getting vaccinated, planned to lie about it AND asked other family members lie to us about his vaccination status too… when we found out and asked him about it, he started to FREAK out. The unthinkable has happened to a colleague with the loss of a very young baby. We went through some of the parenting journey at the same time so there’s a connection but never knew each other closely. I know I can’t fix it but I would love to do anything I can that is appropriate and sensitive.
