Does Natwest bank pay as competitive as Morgan Stanley Deutsche Bank. I mean Associate in MS and DB ranges from 20 to 30 lakh. However when I tried applying to Natwest expecting 40% hike (30 lpa) on current pay of 21 lakh. They straightway rejected me and said its not in their budget. Is there any financial firm which can pay as competitive to Mumbai banks. Barclays Deutsche Bank Natwest group BlackRock

I would politely decline that. That just sounds like a way for someone in the company to meet some sort of quota, but not actually provide a benefit for the applicant. Like, why would they willingly waste their time like that if there isn't a position? I would inquire if there is an open position that you might be considered for, and if not, I would politely decline.
Continue on because they may have a similar job in the near future, as well as the other candidate may not accept.
Just because they made an offer doesn’t mean that the person will take it. Smart companies keep interviewing stupid companies tell the candidates
I would go for it. Opportunities are scarce so you want to take advantage of every one you are given. There is no way to know if that candidate will accept the offer.
I would ask why - if it’s a situation where the same position will be open soon (like weeks or month) and they want to push you through fast when it comes open.
Yes the recruiter even tried telling me to take a lower salary amount to hopefully stay competitive with the person that had already interviewed….
I was in the same position once. They went with the more senior candidate but liked me as well. They created a position just for me. I became an implementation engineer and the other person was the design engineer. I implemented all his changes. This became a savings for the company because all the changes were after hours (OT). Since I was hired at a much lower hourly rate, my OT was a lot less than if the design engineer implemented his changes.

At that point, I think it’s fair to ask them their purpose of those interviews. Are they considering opening a second position?
