It’s more ridiculous BS that makes no sense. It’s a standard that was created by a room full of dbags who didn’t have a clue but were certain that they were smarter as a result of having gone full time.
Whoa. Settle down. 3 things: 1. Most part timers don't get to intern, which is when most hiring happens. 2. Many part timers aren't recruiting anyways so it's a smaller talent pool. 3. Admissions standards are, in fact, lower (GNAT, GPA, work exp). MBB isn't hiring on the strength of a top MBA program as much as were relying on those schools to find and screen talent for us.
Taken together, part time is a smaller, less qualified (on average), and less interested talent pool. That makes it less cost effective to recruit from, so we devote fewer resources to it.
If MBB is the goal, get into a full time program. That signals that you're capable and interested.
Yea but no one goes to b school for the education
Admissions standards are much more lax. What don’t you get?
Haven’t you heard not to extrapolate single examples to the whole? I’m sure there is a tail within part timeers that are very successful, but guarantee the the tail is larger at full time schools with a statistically significant higher average of quality.
BCG1 nails it. That being said, I’m a part timer in Chicago and have seen a number of other part timers from booth and Kellogg in the office
BCG1 is dead on. K1, you’re point is irrelevant.
Bcg2 how about you be a good little boy and try not to be condescending. You think you can handle that? Having a high EI is invaluable
Kpmg 1clearly knows where the high road is and purposely avoids it.... outstanding emotional intelligence. Thank you for reading too much intention in my comment. I will be sure to subdue my bluntness in future comments.
You’re*
A1.
Grad school is a signaling mechanism.
Also, I think EMBA is more highly regarded. Most kids I know who went part time wouldn’t have gotten into the same schools full time.
I did. It’s much much harder, and pointlessly so. If you can go full time.
It’s the same degree from the same business school, don’t get it 😠
Well, it’s the same education, at least most programs, so it’s just an interesting dynamic.
It's a proxy for quality. Graduate program admissions is the first filter by which these companies select candidates to go through the hiring process.
Happens frequently from Kellogg. I had second rounds with B&B.
Bcg.... yikes. Part-timer
The programs are different in terms of the relationships formed. No internship experience so it's harder to pivot into a new career, and universities tend to focus more funds into the development and support of full time students. To be fair and honest, I did part time; however, those were observations from my experience.
Why do you want to go to MBB outside of the prestige?
I mean I don’t think he did anything other than state facts. Sorry that you got offended.
D1 - I understand. But there are many like myself, who the full time program would actually cost more money (opportunity cost since your not working) and also lose time at level...so the Executive program makes more sense for me and probably many others. Maybe EMBA is slightly higher regarded than Part—Time? Not sure.
