Has anyone here lived both in Germany and in Canada and can comment on differences in salaries / living costs from their experience?

I am a Canadian who currently lives/works in Germany. I want to come back b/c I am finding German really hard to learn. Looking at salary ranges in CAN (in business in tech) it seems they are on par with GER, but CAN has higher living costs, not even mentioning the car need. Would like to get first-hand experience from others.
