This one is so tricky. I think we have to give up on the idea of making everyone happy - all virtual happy hours are a little campy. Can start by making it voluntary as well as during normal office hours. 30 mins is good amt off time to start, either leave people wanting more or give them the sweet release of signing off.
Fan favorites have been a game of jeopardy, trivia, crossword puzzles. We did price is right which was fun but seemed to be a fair amount of work.
We have been able to finally allow people to do a 1x meal expense for celebrations (based on guidance that might be specific to my OP or account for fellow deloitters). On smaller teams, SMs/PPMDs have just paid for people's snacks delivered thru grubhub. (I miss out on that bc I'm so rural but don't mind).
Finally, we have also put together team books where everyone gets a slide to post their about them - hobbies, hometown, fun sfw pics. A low pressure way to get to know people.
The struggle is still real but might as well try.

How about saying something like “on Tu and Th I’m going to log in to our call 15 minutes earlier to just chat and give us all a chance to get to know one another a little better.”
Another thing we do is called a 4 x 4. Each meeting someone takes a turn— you present a slide with 4 pictures and you have 4 minutes to explain it to the group. Can be anything— from your kids to a hobby to a funny meme you saw that is worth sharing.
Every call starts that way for 5 minutes.

The first one is so simple but would be pretty remarkably challenging to execute well. I really like the second.
I was on one recently that was good and we played a game called contemplative prompts. Basically come up with a list of questions and go around asking each other them (facilitated). Like:
- what's the one place you want to travel to after covid?
- what should be taught more in school?
Works well in a group of 4-6

It's so much fun! Even if you're bad at drawing it's fun. Just keep in mind if your team is multi-cultural and/or English is anyone's second language, it's possible verbal or cultural clues could make them a poor performer in the game.
Following. What’s the new all remote kickoff / team happy hour and dinner look like these days?

Well, the other ones I’ve been on have sucked, so I definitely don’t want it to be that 😂
