Eh, agencies are usually thrilled to have someone on the inside at the client. I’ve seen it happen with no recourse.
My phone rang the day after my non-compete expired. All good.
There are always loopholes. Sometimes if a client makes the first move, you are indemnified, and sometimes if a recruiter reaches out to you blindly, you go on the interview and it turns out it’s your client, oops!
I worked at an agency and someone on the Account side joined the client’s team. Honestly, it was a plus. He knew everyone involved and was able to smooth over possible sticky situations. Helped that he was politically savvy.
There are usually non poaching agreements in place, either formally or informally
There maybe agreements in place but an agency is not going to jeopardize a client relationship in most cases.
I had a client poach one of my account people who unfortunately had a high opinion of her work ethic and output compared to her peers. I was glad they took her because we were never going to promote her since her behavior was awful.
However, she knew our warts and all she was a pain to work with. Eventually we had to have a meeting with clients on our working norms to call out her micromanaging.
agencies love that…if it’s an important client.
Also depends on your remit. Is it gonna cost them to replace you? Are you dedicated to this one client?
