Have you ever been happy to be taken off a matter? I was just taken off a matter by a partner, and I am THRILLED. The matter was defending against a TCPA suit brought by a horrible pro se professional plaintiff. I’ve never done a TCPA case before and will never do one again. I feel like I should be sad or hurt, but I’m just happy to no longer have to deal with that shitshow.

How early in someone’s career do you generally identify if a homegrown person is partner material or not? M and up or earlier?

Looking for advice. ~1 month ago I started formally complaining to HR about some toxic partners, uncompetitive comp, and excessive work load. There’s been some turnover over the last six months at my firm, and I have taken over more files. I’m having a hard time getting ahead of briefing schedules and have been asking for extensions on a lot of recent briefs. In my practice area it’s never really an issue or objected to. However, I feel guilty that this is still happening. Any tips for getting over this?
