Any other motion designers out there that have had success taking their career to the next level? What did it take? Should I learn more skills? Perhaps market myself more?

Been there. What worked for me was finding a new job. You need to find a role you’re excited about, or something that’s going to let you catch your breath until you’re ready to dig in again. There’s nothing wrong with prioritizing your happiness. Sometimes taking a step back helps you find your path forward. Best of luck.
Second this post. Passion is essential. Burnout happens in all jobs and careers. You need to be motivated and excited about the work you’re doing and who you’re doing that with. If you lose that, you can quiet quit or make a change. Suggest the change so you don’t stagnate in your career
I know when I start fantasizing about getting an hourly job as a barista or something, it’s time to go. I second the other suggestions in this post about moving companies. I’m ex-Edel and I went in-house to refresh how I felt about PR.
Would love to learn more about the process of going in-house. It’s so competitive it seems
This has happened to me twice now working in the industry. I dream about becoming a pre school teacher or something else alllll the time. Lol. Switching from agency to in house helped me a lot. Unfortunately the role I’m in right now my boss is very toxic but the work and the work life balance are great. Give it another try somewhere else - especially outside of agency. Agency is absolutely brutal. Find a company you’re interested in and apply for in house - that’s my advice. Good luck! And stay strong - it’s only temporary. Things will get better.
Exactly :) always remember - nothing is permanent! Get out as soon as you can
Completely agree, I’m there right now and working my last fighting brian cells to try and get a new job. Then once out of my current chaos I’m going to try and map out a plan for what else I’d rather be doing.
I’m here right now. Thinking of applying for a new role makes my brain hurt.
Same here. On top of a rough day of work it feels like more work

Yes but it turned out it was really just a rude/unpleasable client, not the job/industry. I got moved to another account and felt happy again.

I’m so sorry. If you’ve put in a year already, I think you’d be well within your rights to ask to move off.
Yes, I was in your shoes, switched agencies and it made a world of difference. Still working more than I'd like to, but minus the burnout.
I’ve had this at so many agencies. Made a switch from fashion/consumer to tech, with fully remote work, and it’s made a world of difference
If any of you PR people are unhappy with your current situation and in the DMV area, my integrated comms agency is hiring for a Senior Acct Exec and a PR Director! It's a hybrid work environment. DM me for info! 😀

We’re all burned out but I really feel for people stuck at that awful place.
Been there! I switched to a marketing role in-house, best decision I ever made (coming from 4 years at PR agencies)
I would love to know more about how you transitioned into marketing from PR, specifically the outdoor field! 7 years in the PR agency world here
