Morally yes
Any specialty or orphan drug manufacturer
Any PBM
No, all fields and companies have ethics issues. Some are worse than others.
The Valiant style model that these companies operated though is particularly repugnant.
The regulators though continue to be asleep at the wheel. Purdue while repugnant is less to blame for the opioid crisis than the FDA and especially the DEA.
CMS missed Acthar becoming a billion dollar orphan drug. It was such a glaring miss.
Pricing. Gave honest advice
I also did projects at Rhodes which is/was the generic arm of Purdue.
PBM’s are why drug costs are often out of control and they take a disproportionate % of the sale and contribute to such a markup. The markup is baked in to keep prices and profits high.
Valiant and Mallinckrodt bought drugs and their respective competitors, then they jacked up the price. They were in most cases actually worse than Turing.
For the context of moral compass, I opted to move to Amazon.
