Have you seen examples of what is being called “digital redlining?” In the news: “Civil rights group sues Meta over racially discriminatory college marketing ad claims.” (In a nutshell, Meta stands accused of targeting Black users with more for-profit college ads than white users.)

I mean, this isn’t new. Companies like McDonald’s and cigarette companies were long called to carpet for typically marketing in Black communities more than white communities. No one would be surprised if META is doing they same. They have access to so much of our information and companies rely on them for marketing, so it makes sense for them to do this sadly.
This reminds me that I recall reading about similar situations years ago. I don't recall the details, but it was similar, people were kept from seeing certain ads based on race. It'll be interesting to see how this develops. I'm not sure they'll be able to prove a real damage, so I'm curious about that. If you're not shown an ad for a college, that doesn't prevent you from going to that college. It's wrong, but is it a real damage you could sue over?
