HC approved my role (L5 and IC). I was expecting higher level based on the 15yoe in the job post and I have almost 20yoe. Non tech role in BSA family. Should I be offended? How hard to move to L6? What can I expect comp wise for non tech L5?

Google is known for downleveling if you’re coming from outside Tech.

L5 to 6 is arguably the hardest leap as an IC, you’ll understand once you see the job ladders internally

They did same to me, while interviewing I was told L5 position but HC “approved” L4.

I had to reject cause it would’ve been a serious career step down for me.

I have heard similar experiences from couple of my colleagues. Seems like standard google practice is to bait and switch under the guise of downgrading people with “non tech” (read consulting) background.

Thanks for the insight.

If they interviewed you for L6 and downleveled you, then no dice. If they only interviewed for L5, then maybe you can re-interview for a higher level - most of those generally don't go far. I'd take the 5 if the offer is good.

Hi All, a friend of mine is actively looking for job in Wealth management field. She holds 8 years of experience in the same. Any Referals for similar opening would be appreciated.

Had an interview for an associate position at Citi. Interviewee was based in London and I’m in NYC. The only interview time that worked was 6am. I was barely functioning and feel like I truly messed up in my answers because I couldn’t not think clearly. I have another with the head of the division next week again at 6am (pre determined before this interview). It was also hard because the division’s core work is private enough that there was not much prep I could do beforehand. Tips?

Have a final round of interviews as a remote candidate for a team that mainly lives in NYC. Hiring manager said during first interview that my location / remote status doesn’t matter and he has no concerns with hiring remotely for the role. How do I sell myself as a remote candidate to the other 4 team members I am meeting, knowing they all are located in the same city?

Any tips for how to stand out when submitting resumes online to an F50? I have started sending my resume to in-house jobs and it’s hard to even get a response from most listings. I have tried being targeted (e.g., applying to in-house M&A roles and not just any in-house role) and adjusting my resume for particular listings (e.g., highlighting experiences of interest to the company). For a number of places, I have indicated that I am looking for a remote position, which is maybe a negative.

I’m in a little of a pickle but a good one. Offer A. Established “start up” doing well financially and projected to hit profitability. 130k base. Stocks offered, unlimited PTO, and 70% Medical covered. Offer B. Is at a business much larger…90k salary with 10% bonus and generous stock offering. Titles are different which is why the pay is much different. I know some may think it is a no brainer but offer A allows me to grow the department ground up whereas offer B id be apart of to just different
