Yeah, sounds like dude just wants to write poetry. People are reading way too much into this. Or maybe (more likely) they didn’t actually read his letter at all.
Anthropic of course founded by people who left OpenAI because they lost their sense of purpose. All these tech companies are all “don’t be evil” until it’s time to make some money.

I feel like this is a very simplistic take. We’re at the very start of AI advancement now and creating guardrails is important for future development, especially as it’s capable of more agency

Are you comparing AI safety concerns to environmental impact concerns? The later is scientific fact, and is measurable. Sure we can debate the level of action we need to take to address global warming, but the only lack of "meat" here is the false equivalence you're using to dismiss both topics.
Not sure what regulations can do to change anything at this point. Just by being good enough to do most jobs, AI (to include robotics) will make the economic value of human labor plummet below the cost of living within the next couple years.
