Why the **** would anyone “give feedback” on how you look on zoom? You’re an auditor and not a YouTube content creator for **** sake.
My camera has been “broken” for years

Only fragile people would give that kind of feedback

D1- what hub did you get? I have that $500 to burn.
Eventually you get to a point in your career where you can tell that person giving you "feedback" to bug off.

I have a large secondary monitor that sits on a stand just above the top of my laptop. I think that does the trick.
That functionally works but reaks of consultant still pining for the days of working on a plane…🤣. Can’t ditch the squirrel and acorns position of the tiny screen huh?
1. Look directly at the camera when showing up to say hi
2. Look at the camera anytime you have a question.
3. Get good at making visual cues like nods to show you are listening.
Lastly, when somebody calls your name, look at the camera.
Now if you have a smaller monitor that can fit to one side on the desk put a webcam in the center of that and your laptop. It’ll reduce the angle.
This. You have to strike a balance. Maybe they received some feedback from the client, or they picked up on subtle discomfort, or you're still working on your best presentable self, or they could be projecting based on their own journey. Take it with stride.
If the social cues are met, then they'll appreciate the moments you're taking notes as it shows diligence.
I literally start half my calls just announcing I’m taking notes on my other screen. The hard part is actually following through…
Lol tell them you’ll happily turn it off if the angle is that distracting

Have your laptop set to an angle, so you're always looking at your monitor. Then you can have what you want on the monitor.
I put their video feed right below my camera (multiple screen setup). When someone is talking, I can look directly at them. When I speak, I speak to the camera. Helps a ton when you have one screen dedicated for video chat.
$20 webcam, sits on top of whatever monitor you want
