Anyone hiring those who have been out of work for a year? I took time off to tend to personal matters, but I am now looking to get back into the workforce again. My previous experience includes time at B4 audit up to senior level and then transitioned to manager in industry. Senior/manager roles are preferred.

I don’t mind audit. However, I’d prefer it not to be at a B4, as I am looking for some semblance of a work life balance.

DM me if you have something above, thanks.

People take breaks for many many reasons. You should not be worrying yourself that you were out for a year, it’s not a crime. You will find perfect job!

Be careful with the assumption that smaller firm = better WLB. Seen MM places with worse hours than B4

like

It’s a fair point, thanks for your feedback. I’m going off of the general averages here. I’ve experienced B4 audit for many years, and have seen the hours on average exceed any of those I know who are in industry. Just a small filter for me.

DM for a referral to BDO

Hey gang, lately I have been thinking if I got underpaid. Graduated from master school right after 2020 pandemic and started by 68K as UXD in digital sales company based in NYC. With 2 YOE the salary went up by 3% and 5% average promotion. Now it comes up to 75K w/ 6K bonus. What do you think of this? My manager honestly told me I was underpaid during 1-1 but since he was newly hired not long ago, he told me he has no solution at the moment. Thinking of starting a new position...

How do you get into Product? I want to be a product analyst but I can’t find anyone that’s looking for an entry level PA. I have 1.5 YOE as a strategic planner and 5 months as a BA, even have a CSM.

I know the framework, but every place seems to want you to have the experience but don’t want it to be on their dime. Are there better companies or industries to get started?

Thinking of moving to LA in a few months to pursue my dream career to be a talent agent or to work in the business side of music. I have no connections and no previous experience in these fields. For context I’m in my 30s, single w/no kids, and have a good amount of money saved up for the move. I’m currently feeling unfulfilled with my current job, and would regret it if I didn’t try this out. Has anyone else found success in this city later on in life? Hi everyone!

After years of hard work, I just got my first position in a leadership role! Yay! I’ll be leading a team of 12.
I wanted to know if you had any tips for me, things you wish you knew before, or things previous leaders did for/to you that you found admirable or stayed with you. I want to make sure I’m there for them and want to be a leader they will remember positively.

Thank you so much!!

Realistically, what's the minimum time you stay at roles? I still feel like there's a lot to learn where I'm at but also there are new opportunities with new outlooks (and more money) that keep dangling infront of me.

Not sure how to reason with myself either way here.

I asked this in another bowl but everyone recommended places outside the country. Looking for lowkey baby moon trip reccs. We’d be going early bc it’s the only time that works for us (20 wks). We live in DC & are thinking maybe FL? Ideally, someplace warm with beaches. Most people recc PR or other islands but with Zika I’m pretty nervous to do that. Does anyone have any locations they’d recommend? Florida seems kind of lame but it’s easy to get to and still warm lol. Early march time frame!

Neither my husband nor I are good with change and when my husband and I went for the ultrasound he nervously asked "she's too sick to eat anything other than her vitamins and water, is it ok for her and the baby to go without?" Our doctor just smiled and replied "don't worry, baby takes" I don't know why but that was so funny to us. It kind of became our mantra as we navigate and move our life around that "baby takes," its made it feel more Us vs Change rather than Me vs Him. Thought I'd share
