Healthcare friendships hit different because you go through so much together. Some of my closest friends came from work. Have you made real friendships on the job?

I've made some friends at work. It's like you say, you go through things with people and you may develop a rapport. In my case friendships tended to form because we bonded over dealing with problems at work and having a sense of humor about them.

Yes, exactly! Do you ever make plans with your coworkers outside of work? I sometimes find it difficult to cross that boundary haha

Yes and no. Made some incredible friends, but also learned that proximity really is a big part of friendship. Once the jobs ended, some of those friendships just kind of faded away. The ones that have stuck are golden though.

I’ve had many friendships fizzle out after leaving jobs too! But you’re right, the ones that stick are the best!

My retail days of pharmacy have allowed me to meet some good people. I know longer work there but they're now considered just friends. I think work is a sort of trauma bonding. Lol.

lol, definitely some trauma bonding going on!😂

I have made some real friendships on the job and then it’s sad when you both leave the company and don’t talk as much but you know when you do the connection is still there

Absolutely, those types of connections are the ones that you can pick right back up at any point!

I've been working in the NHS as an orthopaedic surgeon for over 10 years. I have recently made the transition over to industry working for a pharmcovigilance and certification body TUV SUD. Early signs are great. I know several clinicians who are currently advocating the overworked underpaid mantra and would like a referral. Let me know if you are keen to hear more.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a possible higher paying career that I would be qualified for based on my background?

I just accepted an offer in writing. The new job will start the background check next which I’ve been told it may take a while to complete. My start date at the new job isn’t until 2023 so there is some time for me to turn in my notice. I don’t anticipate any hiccups in the background check but is it wise to wait until the background check is complete before turning in my notice?

So I say this with complete humility and an understanding that this is a fortunate-ish situation to be in. I’m in a position where I am tied to nothing, I have no children, spouse, or house. My job, which I’ve loved until some recent significant leadership changes, is sucking the life out of me and I think it may be time for a change. Because I am able to “pick up and go” I’m open to opportunities and locations. I’ve never worked with a recruiter but was hoping I could get some recommendations!

Hi! I'm currently interviewing (3/6 interviews so far) for for an appeals manager role for DME. The job entails not only to bill for dme (cms 1500) but also to follow up on any denials or appeals, amongst other administrative duties. My questions are is it typical to have 1 person doing both the billing and denials within a new vertical for all ins.? How difficult is billing for dme as I only have experience in gyn onc and lactation billing? What's a fair salary? I have 8+ yoe in rcm, no certs.
