Hello everyone! I am currently employed in the insurance industry but am eager to transition into a career in finance. I graduated about two years ago and have been in my current role for approximately a year and a half. I would greatly appreciate any advice on how to navigate this career change. Thank you!

It would depend on what you did in the insurance industry - was it finance related at all? I realized that in this economy, a lot of companies are not really taking chances on people that don’t have the exact experience they need.
You might need to apply to an entry level finance role and go from there.

What’s motivating the change? I started in insurance, went to banking, and jumped back to insurance. Better work / life balance in insurance

But in all seriousness re: advice - does your insurance company have an asset management arm you can try to transfer to?

Try internal transfer

Any advice for lateraling in-house?

Definitely took the wrong job. I was offered a seriously competitive salary and great benefits to work at a well funded startup, which is great! Turns out the salary and benefits were meant as lowkey bribes to insure I worked at the company without actually doing any work. Every single suggestion I've made has been shut down and I've been ghosted for several meetings with the CEO. What should I do? Just leave?

Hello,
Can we get promotion after the mid year review in CitiusTech?
Or the promotion for the mid year already done?
I see for many people the designation has changed but for me it's not. I was under the impression that the promotion happens after the mid year discussion or after the year end discussion.
Can someone please tell the details and when we can expect the new revised letter mentioning the new designation.

Incoming AC at Bain, previously was deciding between Bain and McKinsey. But, ultimately chose Bain for the culture despite McKinsey being aligned with my professional goals of working in the government. I was looking on LinkedIn and didn’t find many people who are working in the White House after Bain, but found countless examples for McKinsey. Would it be difficult to try to transition to working in government after a few years at Bain? Any thoughts?

Customer Success Managers!: I’m a well-educated service industry professional (BA and MA) trying to transition to CS. I’m having a hard time gaining traction and want to know if you have advice for landing entry level CS jobs. (Not resume advice, I’ve done my research.) I want to know more about getting my foot in the door and getting the necessary experience. Seems like most places want years of experience in the role and it’s hard to find places that will take someone hopping across industries

Hey y'all, kind of a two part question:
1. I enjoy the people management more than individual contributor stuff. What career paths do you see in our industry for people who are managing support engineering teams?
2. What certifications are valued today? Seems like being a AWS Cloud Practitioner is a good general one, but are there others that stand out?

Went for a pre-employment drug test yesterday. They never asked me if I was on any medications. I had to ask them and was told "oh yeah, just put any you may think make a difference in this text box." I put Xanax, Flexeril, and gabapentin. All of which are prescribed and used as directed. Now I'm terrified that I should have put ALL my meds, to including my psych meds. I've been sober over 12 years and never touched drugs (just booze) but I'm having a full blown panic attack.
