Hi! I'm a US citizen currently doing my MBA in the US. Looking to immigrate to Canada possibly in a few years. I'm hoping to get a tech job (PM or strategy) after I graduate next year. Would my best bet be to take an offer with a big tech company that has offices in Canada, then transfer when the time comes?

Hey anyone has advice on fixed income execution trader in a buy side firm? Sizable firm, good team, very low pay, okay wlb, been here for a year and working for 4 years in total, was sales/ small firm analyst before. Though trading is fun, but can’t think of executing orders for another 10 years. Trying to get on track of fixed income analyst - am doing some research in my spare time for my team now. What do you think of trader to analyst? Any good advice or same concerns? Appreciate any cmts!

I’m a tax senior in big 4. Which role in the industry has a better career trajectory in terms of growth and pay: senior accountant or senior tax accountant? I do a lot of tax provision and starting to find tax interesting but I’m not having a lot of luck finding openings for in house tax roles.

Any tips on leaving a firm “correctly”? Was about to go “of counsel” with my firm of 6 years, but then another firm whose partners I really respect (and personally like) offered me a partnership position. I predict my current bosses will *flip* (cut off file access immediately, try to beat me to calling my clients, etc.), so how do I set myself up for a successful transition?

Question for ex-consulting (esp MBB) folks who landed up at Google - are you happy with the decision you took? Why / why not? I'm an MBB Consultant with an offer for a role in Strat Ops in another country. Also evaluating a similar role in a fast growing, publicly lister SaaS company closer to home - faster growth, more flex to work remotely. Want to understand if consulting folks are happy with Google overall, despite a potentially slower / more open ended growth path.

Moving to Kuala Lumpur or Seoul? I have to make this choice soon. It’s relatively early in my career so it’ll be good to hear from someone with more experience. I’m partial towards either!

Is CIPD a valuable certification? Is it appreciated in Europe only or US too? I have an opportunity to get it but not sure if knowledge is really up to date and worth time spent.

What are some of the best paid medical fields that don't require a doctorate? Certifications are absolutely fine. I just can't afford to go into doctorate-level debt

Any other first years out there worry that this virtual environment just won’t be able to teach them? I worry I’m not getting the same “plugged in” experience when I can’t knock on a door or walk into an office. Doesn’t help that my anxiety is heightened by feeling so isolated. The learning curve is high enough as is and I’m not sure I’ll ever learn enough virtually to be useful in big law...am I alone?!?

My brilliant team is being dissolved. My team is what made the work so enjoyable, not the job itself. I’m feeling pretty…stunned, I guess, and nervous about going through this again in the future.

We’re having an Indian wedding on a Sunday with ceremony in the morning, followed by lunch, and then cocktail hour + reception.

Given that the wedding starts early, we will have guests (~30) flying in the day before. What is the expectation in terms of arranging dinner for them? We’re trying to avoid having an additional event Saturday night - any idea on if these guests would need to have food arranged for them by us and what that could look like on a cost effective budget.
