I’m trying to get a Helpdesk/it support role. I have a home lab nad have been practicing with different OSs, ticketing system and trouble shooting. We’re moving to LA next month and looking to buy our first home in about 18 months. We’re planning to do 10% down on a $1.8M -$2M home. Would it be smart to do a multi-unit so we can rent at least half of it? We’d live in at least a 2 bedroom unit. We’re new to the LA market, but I think there will always be a market for renters. Would it be better to use the money to buy a single family house with more rooms and Airbnb out the guest room? Any thoughts?

I didn't apply for a job that would have set me up for the future in the government. I wouldn't have to worry about money or future jobs. My boss had just given me a small pay rise and talked up the future and so I felt good. I now severely regret not applying for the job and cannot stop thinking about it to the point of insomnia and depression. I even contacted the employer but too late. It's a small town and rarely anything comes up. I hate myself and feel like I failed my family. :(

Why do deals move at a breakneck pace all the time? I don’t understand the urgency put on this work for every single deal. Is it deliberate to avoid lengthy diligence / lots of questions? All these deadlines are arbitrary

I’ve recently started work at a very young tech startup. Coming from a big law background, this was a huge change of pace/environment. I’m having a lot of trouble getting used to how unstructured the startup is. It feels like hire ups give a set of instructions then talk as if they don’t remember, or then decided rules A, B, C and D applies without being clear this was the case. Is this just the general startup environment? If you experienced this before, how did you deal with It?

Sweaty post-workout question. If I finish a bike or run in the heat I am usually just pouring sweat for the next 15 or so mins. So I've gotten into the habit of just putting a towel or yoga mat down on the floor and laying/stretching until I am not going to throw sweat everywhere or step in to the shower and step out still sweating. If a Recruiter declines you or doesn’t choose to reach out, it is because the hiring team declined you, or you don’t have the experience. You will most likely not be considered for future roles because of this. When I see people giving advice to reach outside the Recruiter, it’s bad advice. Very rare is this a good idea.
