1 yoe as a business intelligence developer and just under 1 yoe as a Junior data engineer for a startup. My current company is in talks with me to hire me as a data engineer right after I graduate with my bachelors degree. From what I’ve seen online (averaging 5 different sites, I am including Glassdoor but only the number they have listed as the base) I’m currently expecting about 85k base. Does this seem too high? I have 4.3 YOE currently and I was offered Engr II - Full Stack position in VDSI. But after doing some research it seems Engr II is usually for YOE between 2 and 4. Is this correct? Will there be a problem for me if I take up this position with my YOE?
Since I am a lateral entry, I think promotion to Engr III also would take a lot of time.

I’m a junior litigation lawyer based in Windsor looking to lateral to corporate big law. I have been doing commercial litigation, tax litigation, and tax planning. I’ve done corporate reorganization, corporate structuring, rollovers so corporate would not be completely new to me. I did a solicitor rotation during articling and was involved with several m&a deals. Has anyone managed to make the jump from litigation in Windsor to Toronto big law corporate? I do sales for a major engineering firm. Focused on new business and exploring new markets. Last year I was in the top 50% for order intake, and first in number of projects won along with number of new customers. I think this is extraordinary given the effort it takes to win new business.

For next year my goal increased by 2.5X, and less of what I bring in counts towards that target. I really enjoy my job but I will essentially be getting a large pay cut. Lost in what to do besides quit??
