I am a third-year optometry and vision science research in London. My funding runs out in October and as I am a foreign skilled worker, I need to make sure I find a job. As a (almost) PhD, what kind of jobs I can apply for? I am hoping to branch out of academia and need advice on the job hunt. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you!!

Apologies if this is repetitive, but here for some inspiration stories… I prepped hard for the first (phone interview) McK 30-min evaluative case study (Digital Associate role) but failed it cause I couldn’t calm my nerves… is it realistic to hope that with more hard work, I can at least make it to the final rounds next time round? Any tips to not be anxious for a phone interview?

Anyone work/worked for NFP? I have a second interview tomorrow for an account manager role. Just wondering if anyone has any pros or cons I should know about. Thanks!

Are online executive leadership programs helpful in getting a higher level role or getting noticed for Director and above jobs? Or does it not matter if you have a decent amount of experience? 10+ years?

Is leaving consulting as a senior, with 2 YOE, too soon? When is a “good” time to exit, in your opinion? I ask because I’ve heard senior is good, and I’ve heard manager is the latest you should stay before diminishing exit returns (anecdotal)

How important is prestige for exit opportunities compared to actual work done? Will a big name firm always trump a smaller less known firm that your average person doesn't know?

Hi fishes, my friend recently had a bitter experience with Dish Network. So her profile was shortlisted and they asked few questions over email. It did take good 2hrs to answer and she replied back. HM said we are good to go for interview and sent an invite. On the day of interview nobody turned up, neither they gave an update later. She did follow up for a couple of days but no response. Is there any reason why this happens ? Me being in HR field felt this to be a little unprofessional.

Plan to go to B-school in 3 years (1 year out of UG now). Long term goal is entrepreneurship. Have offers at a MBB firm for a generalist consultant role and at FAANG for a strategy role. FAANG offer is slightly higher (though both are a 50+% bump on my current comp). Both would have me reset to entry level. Which one should I take?

I'm SVP/strategy for a PR agency. I moved into PR, Healthcare, and Strategic Planning only 3 years ago. An agency recruiter is trying to convince me to move into a GSVP account role, assuring me "at that level it's all strategy." (I dont think she understands the words she's using. Or that I'm qualified). But long-term, knowing account roles are so much more plentiful than brand planning in PR, I'm wondering if I should start thinking about account. Anyone here moved from strategy to account?

I was a contractor for a big company and they just let me know that my last day is December 30th. I got this position thanks to a recruiting company that has been great and gives me benefits.
Should I:
- Continue working with the recruiting company, hoping that they will find another position for me? (as they told me they will, and when they applied me I started working with my current company within 2 weeks)
- Work with the recruiter + apply for jobs on my own?

It may seem obvious, but in my experience partners value trial experience over anything else, so get it however you can. For example, my firm will favor a former prosecutor who has seen the courtroom a lot but has no civil litigation experience (not even a depo) over a seasoned associate who has only second chaired cases with a partner but hasn’t tried a case. Even trying a case and losing gives you credibility at my firm because you still did it.

My family/friends ask me for store discounts all the time. It's really uncomfortable to say no, but I have to. Any tips on how to handle these conversations?
